Personal Review
Track 1 is just incredible. The DQ Theme is just rousing to
begin with, and in full orchestral sound? Incredible.
Track 2 seems like it starts off a little too quiet for me.. but
it picks up and hits hard as the song continues. It's a rousing
battle with the Dragonlord.
Tracks 3 and 4 are incredible in full orchestra. The songs are
powerful and full of nostalgia, and to hear them played this full of
life is simply amazing.
The DQ3 Tracks (5-9) are all strong hard hitting pieces of music.
As good as the DQ3 Reprise songs were compared to the DW3 ones, these
tracks are that much above and beyond the Reprise. Ramia is extremely
restful and soothing when done with a full orchestra. I wasn't
paticularly fond of this song until I heard it on this CD.
The two DQ4 tracks are the same way... the Comrades is a perfect
medley of all the music from DQ4, and the ending is powerful enough in
midi... let alone with a full orchestra.
The remainder of the tracks are from DQ5. They all sound great
coming from a full orchestra. They didn't hit home quite as hard as
the other tracks did, but that's most likely because I only recently
started playing this game and the nostalgia hasn't sunk in yet.
Overall, this is a great game music CD. The Tokyo Symphony gives
an amazing performance under the direction of Koichi Sugiyama. In my
opinion, you'll love this CD even if you're not a huge fan of the
Dragon Quest series... If you are, you can't live without this CD ~_^
