This is a little primer on how to survive in the A@H forums for new members and those who just don't get the attack system.

Read this thread first things first. Should answer a lot of questions.
Attack System Guidelines
Opens in a new window
Building your stats
First and foremost, you need to post on the board. Your HP is heavily influenced by your number of posts per day.
Post something *relevant* though, please. Don't just start spamming the board with nonesense like so many do just to build their HP up.
Attacking other members
The first thing you want to look at is how much Experience (Exp) the member has. Users with higher Exp will defend better against your attacks, as well as counter attack with harder hits. Try to find someone with a fairly equal or lesser Exp rating than you.
Next you want to look at HP. It will take a few attacks... but eventually you'll figure out about how much HP damage you can do in an attack. You'll want to find people you can finish in one blow... otherwise you'll lose strength (temporarily) and not gain a frag for it. Keep in mind, just because a member has really low HP... if they have an Exp rating a *lot* higher than yours, you still may fail to frag them... and they may get a powerful counter attack and you'll suicide frag yourself.
Profitible attacks
The best kind of member you can attack is one like this...
(1)HP low enough you can finish them in one blow (pay attn. to Exp!)
(2)A nice strength rating
(3)More Frags than you
In this situation, if you finish your opponant in one blow, you'll gain some of their strength (temporarily) A frag for finishing them off, *plus* gain a percentage of the difference between your number of frags and their higher rating.
Gaining some of your opponants strength is pretty important. Gaining this temporary strength will make your later attacks more powerful.. as well as giving you a chance to take some revenge on someone who attacks you. The bonus strength will mean you'll counter attack stronger if they fail to finish you.
Frag Vs. Sissy Kill
Any member with 10% or greater Exp will always gain you a frag as opposed to a sissy kill.
If you're level 2 or lower, all kills count as frags regardless of experience.
A sissy kill may still be profitible to you if you find someone you can finish in one blow with a nice strength rating you can steal from. You'll not get a frag, but you'll still likely gain some strength to use in later attacks.
Stealth Assasin
At first, you might want to play the stealth assasin. Don't log into the message board. Hunt through the member list or the posts to find someone you think you can attack successfully... log in... attack... then log back out.
This will keep your name from appearing in the online members list for very long and this helps a lot to keep people from noticing and fragging you while you're making your limit of attacks.
This is now an even more effective strategy, as you will not appear in attack logs except under certain conditions. This makes it harder for online members to track you when you blink back into the shadows with a log-out.
Emergency Situation
If someone hits you and reduces you to low HP, and a lot of members with lower frag counts than you are online.... if you've got an attack left, use it on a powerful member with more frags than you. You'll suicide frag yourself, and you'll be safe for a little while from lower power members attacking in your weakened state and stealing your frags. *UPDATE* Apparantly the programming has been changed and now you *still* lose frags doing this... but odds are it will be less than if you were killed by a member with 1/10 your frags.. You lose 10% of your frags for a suicide.
Profile Information
View your profile for a lot of valuable information once you've made some attacks. It will tell you how long until an attack you made or someone made against you expires. Any HP you lost will return when the attack expires, same with strength. You will also *lose* any hp or str you gained from a frag when an attack expires, so take note of that too!
Attacks you lost will expire much more quickly than attacks you won. Attacks against you will expire much more quickly than attacks you made against others.
Finally
The best way to learn is to play the game. These tips should help you get started, then figure out how things work best for you from there on out. ^_^
